At Strictly Ballroom Dance Studio in Newburgh, New York, we have helped thousands of clients become comfortable on the dance floor. Owner Joe Maraday will use his over 35 years of teaching experience to give you the skills necessary to make your dance experience a positive and fun experience.
Unique and Effective Teaching Method
Joe provides one the best learning experiences to his students through a unique approach combining elements of his Physical Education background and years of dance training with some of the best coaches/teachers in the industry. He also understands and communicates the concept of learning movement as opposed to memorization of steps as a more effective primary teaching tool. As with any good professional, he remains updated in the dance industry.

Experience a more personally tailored instruction and address your specific dance goals with our private lessons. This one-on-one session allows you to become more actively engaged in the dance.
Also, it’s a good way to further refine and clarify the techniques that you learned in a group class. In a private class, you can progress at your own pace and book appointments to fit your schedule.
If you are looking for an inexpensive way to try new styles as well as learn new skills and patterns, sign up for our group classes. Here, you will learn to improve your lead, follow skills, and develop better balance and stamina while reinforcing your sense of rhythm and timing. It is also very fun!
Each group class focuses on one or more dances, and the curriculum matches the class’s experience level. The different levels are:

- Intermediate
- Advanced

Join us as we have fun on our social dance parties, held on select Saturday nights from 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Whether you’re looking to practice new skills with other students, guests, and instructors or you just want to enjoy a uniquely warm and inviting atmosphere complete with refreshments, you’ve come to the right place.
Whether it’s salsa, waltz, rumba, cha cha, tango, samba, bolero, quickstep, foxtrot, swing, or hustle, we have you covered. No matter what your age or skill level, you’re welcome to come and dance with us.
About Our Owner
Joseph C. Maraday Jr., a.k.a. Joe, is the owner and founder of Strictly Ballroom Dance Studio. Joe has always been passionate about teaching dance .He has spent over 40 years of his life refining and redefining his teaching methods in order to be as effective as possible and make your dance experience an enjoyable and positive one.
All of his instructions are based on standards set forth by two of the most highly recognized programs in the ballroom dance industry: the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) and the newly developed Dance Vision International Dance Association (DVIDA).
Professional Background
As a member of the Springfield College Exhibition Dance Team, Joe continued his dance experience at a nationally recognized chain studio. He participated in local and regional competitions and was also part of the teaching staff until he graduated from college.
Joe has been teaching the cadets at West Point for over 35 years and was instrumental in forming a ballroom dance team which participated in the Dance USA Youth and College Network ballroom dance competitions. Joe has also served as a guest instructor at the Dance Department of Springfield College and a variety of local community events.
In addition, Joe has taught dance in the Physical Education Department at Orange County Community College and numerous other schools and organizations including:
