Strictly Ballroom is pleased to offer children's and youth programs.  Music and dancing is a great way to
encourage interaction, cooperation and physical well being.

We currently are offering a wonderful class for our youth on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  Juliana's  Music Together®
classes offer your family, and you, a chance to play, learn music, and learn about your child's development. Each week,
Juliana leads the class in songs and rhythm chants featured in the song collection for the current semester. The songs are
presented through a variety of musical activities which incorporate;

♪  fun, playful, interactive ways to focus on tonal and rhythmic
       elements of music

♪  rhythmic and creative movement exploring a wide spectrum of body
       motions put to music

♪  instrument exploration. We use a wide variety of percussion
instruments, egg shakers, drums, rhythm sticks, triangles, bells,
       tambourines, glockenspiels and resonator bells

♪  many kinds of props, from giant silk scarves to balls

   ♪  parent education

You may wonder if you can help your child musically, especially if you don't feel that you are musical yourself.
Music Together knows from working with thousands of families that the parents are the most important influence
in the child's musical life.

If parents, regardless of your ability, have fun making music, your children will too. Your child is young now and in
a state of constant amazement, with a natural curiosity for music.

Each semester you will receive a new song collection on CD and a corresponding beautifully illustrated songbook.
Currently, you will also get a free, duplicate CD, great for the car! This collection contains all the music we will be
working on during the semester, so you can take the class home with you every day.

All classes are mixed ages and are 45 minutes long. Children can attend from birth through age five—and through
all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers—
grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy
watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because
the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving,
chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers—parents, grandparents, nanny—
can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience.  A child's musical
development benefits greatly from watching and playing with kids of all age groups.

That's why it works!
